  • Overview

    The Medical Office Technician/X-ray Tech is responsible for preparing examination rooms, recording height and weight, preparing examinees for examination, performing radiological duties as required and assisting physicians as needed. This position ensures all responsibilities are completed with highest level of customer service and that all work performed is in full compliance with company policies and all regulatory agency standards and/or federal and state regulations. 

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Routes examinee to exam room, vitals room and/or x-ray room as needed.
    • Review chart and verifies examinee information is available for examining physician.
    • Prepares examinee for examination by performing and recording height and weight.
    • When necessary, chaperones examinations with female examinees or as requested by physician.
    • Responsible for set-up, maintenance, and cleanliness of exam rooms. Reports any issues or maintenance needs to management.
    • Prepare patients for radiological procedures by providing appropriate radiation protection, adjusting immobilization devices as needed and performs x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
    • Must wear protective gear, safety glasses and approved radioactive measuring devices at all times when performing radiological procedures.
    • Protects patients and staff from radiation exposure by practicing sound procedures which meet or exceed recommended industry standards at all times. 
    • Develop and process radiological film as needed.
    • Regularly inspects and ensures all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
    • Reports any required maintenance needs or equipment malfunctions to management right away.
    • Completes an x-ray log for all completed radiological procedures accurately and on time.
    • Maintains a smooth flow of examinations to ensure appointments are kept on schedule.
    • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records.
    • Ensures all practices are carried out in accordance with state and federal safety and legal regulations.
    • Performs clerical duties such as typing, filing, emailing, and proofreading as required.
    • Promotes effective and efficient utilization of clinical resources and supplies.
    • Participate in various educational and or training activities as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of 1 year x-ray experience required. Bilingual in Spanish preferred and may be required in certain office locations.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Current X-Ray Technology License or certification issued by the state in which services will be performed may be required in certain office locations.

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Must be able to perform day travel as required
    • Must hold a valid state Driver’s License
    • Must have adequate knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, biology, physiology, medications, and laboratory values.
    • Must possess complete knowledge of general computer, fax, copier, scanner, and telephone
    • Must be knowledgeable of multiple software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and the Internet.
    • Ability to follow instructions and respond to managements’ directions accurately
    • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and monitors own work to ensure quality is met.
